Leading Cinema Exhibitor Cinépolis USA Announced As Latest Anchor Tenant for The Town Center at Hamlin

New master-planned community in high-income Central Florida submarket, designed to meet the area’s untapped restaurant and retail needs, will welcome luxury movie theater in fall 2017

Today, Boyd Development Corporation announced the signing of Cinépolis USA as its third anchor tenant for Hamlin, a new lakeside community Boyd is developing in southwest Orange County in partnership with Schrimsher Properties. Located at the intersection of Orlando’s New Independence Parkway and Florida State Road 429 – surrounded by one of the fastest growing communities in the country, including Windermere and Winter Garden, and seven miles north of the western entrance to the Walt Disney World Resort – Hamlin will bring more than 650 acres of commercial and residential waterfront to this high-income area in Central Florida.

Cinépolis USA’s investment in Hamlin’s town center is an extension of its aggressive U.S. growth strategy, with the Dallas-based cinema exhibitor planning to nearly double both its stateside employee and theater count over the next two years. Its Mexico-based parent company, Cinépolis, known in the retail and entertainment industries as a forward-thinking brand after pioneering the luxury cinema concept in 1999, quickly became the world’s fourth largest chain of movie theaters with more than 550 locations.

“What primarily revealed Hamlin as an imperative for Cinépolis USA was Boyd’s reputation in the Central Florida market, its long-term commitment to building a community experience and most importantly, a shared belief in the future of retail,” said Cinépolis USA Chief Executive Officer Adrian Mijares Elizondo. “Scott Boyd and his team have a level of market expertise, clearly captured in their vision, to develop a retail, dining and entertainment destination that will serve both local and regional residents of Central Florida.”

The Cinépolis Hamlin will be the brand’s seventh luxury dine-in movie theater in the U.S. and second in Florida – its highest-end theater model, featuring fully-reclining leather seats, in-theater waiter service, gourmet dining and full bar. Scheduled to open in fall 2017, Cinépolis Hamlin is the third anchor tenant to commit to Hamlin’s Town Center, which features exclusive waterfront access to Lake Hancock. With the first anchor tenant scheduled to open later in 2016, Boyd Development Corporation Owner & President Scott Boyd expects commercial real estate interest in Hamlin to continue to trend upwards as opening dates approach.

“The announcement of Cinépolis USA, a leader in luxury theater entertainment, is very exciting and further reaffirms our vision that Hamlin will provide Central Florida residents with one-of-a-kind experiences in a unique waterfront setting” said Boyd. “We continue to be pleased with the pace of interest from retailers and restaurateurs that would like to add their brands to Hamlin.”
