Hamlin is about to get a new spot for those with a hankering for hummus.

The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill will be setting up shop at 16045 New Independence Parkway, Suite 100, Winter Garden, and is expected open later this summer. The fast-casual franchise serves authentic Greek dishes made to order with fresh ingredients. From dolmades to desserts to gyros and Greek rice bowls, the restaurant hopes to satisfy any craving for Mediterranean-style cuisine.

“We’ve taken traditional and authentic recipes to a modern and welcoming environment,” said Jim Butler, president of The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill. “Customers coming in for lunch, dinner and any time in between can choose from a wide variety of options in our menu — we really offer something for everyone. We have been winning awards for years and we are thrilled to be able to bring traditional Mediterranean cuisine to people across the United States.”

The first location of The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill opened in 2011 in Henderson, Nevada. The restaurant originally was owned and operated by a Greek-Armenian family until it was purchased by third-generation restaurateurs Nick A. Della Penna and Trent Jones. The brand began franchising in 2018 with United Franchise Group.

“Like anyone who loves truly good food, their favorite childhood memories were those spent with family and friends crowded around a table for a meal made with care and love,” Butler said. “That tradition remains today with the same recipes passed down generation after generation and prepared with the spirit of authentic Mediterranean hospitality where everyone’s welcome.”

Butler added the Hamlin restaurant will be The Great Greek’s third in Florida. The Great Greek currently has seven locations open around the country, and another 75 franchise locations under development with 20 locations situated within the greater Orlando area.
