Capone’s launches new location in Central Florida’s Hamlin Town Center

Al Capone-inspired restaurant, known for coal-fired pizza, will open late 2018

WINTER GARDEN, FL (Feb. 8, 2018) – Capone’s Coal Fired Pizza, a restaurant inspired by the story of notorious gangster Al Capone, plans to open later this year in Central Florida’s master-planned community of Hamlin Town Center. 23 Restaurant Services, which also operates the Ford’s Garage restaurant chain, announced in September it is also opening in Hamlin.

Capone’s new location, the restaurant chain’s second storefront, is expected to open late 2018. The Prohibition era-themed restaurant will be authentic to the type of establishment Al Capone might have frequented, with warm wood and iron accents, exposed brick coal-fired ovens, Tiffany glass chandeliers, a speakeasy-style bar and photographs of the infamous mobster.

The restaurant’s most iconic feature is an underground vault encased in glass beneath the floor of the dining room. During the 2014 construction of the original Capone’s in Fort Myers, an old elevator shaft left a hole in the floor.

The creative minds behind the restaurant took what was a potential construction problem and made it into a positive. The former elevator shaft now acts as a model of Al Capone’s mysterious vault in the floor of the restaurant with an engraved plaque explaining the story. This feature has proven to be so popular that it will be reproduced in the 6,000-square-foot Hamlin location.

To keep the authentic theme of the restaurant, a photographer was hired to travel to Alcatraz, where Capone was imprisoned, to capture the essence of his jail cell, which ultimately inspired the look restaurant bathrooms.

Capone’s is known for its 800-degree coal-fired ovens and “pizza so good it should be illegal.” Staying true to the Italian-American mobster’s legacy, other menu items include homemade pastas, coal-fired sandwiches and custom calzones.

“We want to create a dining experience and not just a meal with all of our restaurants,” said Marc Brown, President of 23 Restaurant Services, which operates Capone’s, and several other restaurant concepts including Ford’s Garage. “Hamlin is an excellent location for Capone’s and Ford’s Garage because of the combination of families and professionals in the community.”

Hamlin is the centerpiece of Horizon West, one of the fastest growing master-planned communities in the United States. Capone’s will be located within an easy walk of the Lake Hancock waterfront. The lake district will include up to 400,000 square feet of retail, restaurants, entertainment, hotels, medical and office space anchored by a Cinépolis luxury theatre.

“23 Restaurant Services’ dedication to creating memorable experiences for its customers is why we’re eager for them to join the Hamlin community,” said Scott Boyd, President of Boyd Development Corporation, the developer of Hamlin. “Capone’s is a unique concept that residents and visitors will very much enjoy.”
